International Space Design Award—IDEA-TOPS is the most influential, internationalized and authoritative design award in China. With the principles of being professional, rigorous, impartial and fair, Idea-Tops not only attracted architects and interior designers from 45 countries and regions, but enabled a group of thoughtful and potential designers or design enterprises grow up quickly! Idea-Tops aims to create the most thoughtful and influential space design award, discover and praise the best designers and design works around the world.

 

In 2015, the Idea-Tops Commette established cooperative relationship with 10 top universities around the world, including Harvard University, Yale University, Oxford University, Cambridge University, the University of Tokyo, MIT, Paris University, the University of Rome, Tsinghua University, Peking University. In collaboration with famous professors and academic leaders Idea-Tops Commette organized Idea-Tops International Design Forum and International Design Master Forum.

 

The establishment of Idea-Tops International Design Forum and International Design Master Forum provided a strong academic support to Idea-Tops Award, as well as enabled Idea-Tops to promote cultural exchange and academic communication between Chinese and western design industry at a new international level.

 

In 2016 the Awarding Ceremony of 7th International Space Design Award Idea-Tops successfully curated “The 2016 Venice Biennale Master Talk”. That was the first time forum gathered the designers from the UK, France, Italy and other 10 Venice Architecture Biennale national pavilions for master talk. 


2016 The Second Idea-Tops International Design Forum

 

In 2017 the experts from Expo, Venice Architecture Biennale and Pritzker Architecture Award were invited to participate in Idea-Tops International Design Master Forum. In particular, Martha Thorne, the Executive chairman of Pritzker Architecture Prize and and Dean in the architecture school at IE University in Madrid was invited to visit the Idea-Tops Awards International Design Master Forum and the Awarding Ceremony for in-depth communication. She made an inspiring keynote speech for Chinese designers and architects. Massimiliano Fuksas, President of the 7th Venice International Architecture Biennale, winner of Idea-Tops 2013 Transportation Space category, founder of Fuksas Architecture Studio, known for his outstanding project Shenzhen Airpot T3 Terminal, interpreted “Love Save The World” design philosophy with his latest projects.

Over the past nine years, the Idea-Tops Award has conducted a global promotional tour through more than 50 cities around the world. The number of IDEA-TOPS participants from 45 countries and regions has reached 10 000, with the total number of entries around 40,000.

 

Idea-Tops Award-winning projects range from National Center for the Arts in Kaohsiung to Biesbosch Museum Island in Werkendam, from a private house in Mexico to Luxury St. Regis Sanya Yalong Bay Resort in China. 

Seaside buildings and green architecture projects also feature in various guises. The architects and designers whose work has been honoured range from small practices to large, international ones.

From architectural design to interior design, from display art to light environment design, the 18 professional categories include Dining space, Hotel, Office space, Exhibition space, Model houses, Luminous, Villas, Club, Entertainment space, Commercial space, Traffic space, Cultural space, Display space, Apartment design, Public Architecture, Residential, Green Architecture, Digital Architecture.

The deadline of submission is 31st December, 2018.

The awarding ceremony of Idea-Tops will be held in Shenzhen in April 26th, 2019


How To Enter

What will I need to submit the project?

Competitors must provide:

1) The Application From of International Space Design Award—Idea-Tops;

2) No less than 10pcs realistic photos per entry (JPG, TIF, PSD or CDR, the resolution should be at least 300 dpi);

3) Floor plan and other related drawings which can show the features of the entry;

4) Text description of design concept;

5) Photos of participants or groups (the resolution should be at least 300 dpi).

How to submit?

1. Sign up at the official website of Idea-tops (www.idea-tops.com) or its media platform—China Interior Design Website (http://en.a963.com/);

2. Login and fill in personal/company information (please make sure the information is real and complete, so that the organizer is able to contact you);

3. Release works and choose "Participate in the Idea-Tops Award";

4. Pay entry fee online (150 USD per entry).

Once you have started your online entry you may work on your submission(s) up until the deadline. The organizer will inspect all the submitted materials, for those which are incomplete, incorrect or unqualified will be deemed into invalid, and the organizer has the right to disqualify such participants from the competition. Participants should select the space category carefully when submitting projects, if a participant cannot determine the category, he/she can confirm with the organizer. If the category is incorrect, the organizer has the right to deal with it according to its own decision (including but not limited to disqualify the participant).
